Purpose
This page explains SetMind's appointment fees, payment process, rebates, and other charges.
SetMind is the trading name of SetMind Pty Ltd.
Please review this information before booking.
1. Consultation fees
SetMind fees are tailored to your care and depend on appointment duration, referral status, clinical pathway, and Medicare eligibility.
We do not publish a standard fee schedule. To receive your exact appointment fee, Medicare rebate (where eligible), and estimated out-of-pocket cost in writing before booking, please enquire by email:
We'll respond with a written quote covering the relevant appointment type, any applicable Medicare item and rebate, and payment instructions.
2. Administrative and other fees
Additional fees may apply for services such as intake and booking deposits, after-hours appointments, letters, release of medical records, and script-only requests.
Administrative fees are not usually eligible for Medicare rebates.
Please ask when you enquire and we'll confirm any applicable administrative fees in writing.
3. Payment timing
Appointment fees are generally payable one week before the appointment.
Medicare rebates, where available, are processed after the appointment has been attended.
If payment is not received, your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
A card processing surcharge may apply depending on payment method.
4. Medicare rebates
You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate if:
- You have a valid Medicare card
- You have a valid referral where required
- The appointment meets Medicare requirements
- The psychiatrist and service type are eligible for a rebate
Medicare rebates do not usually cover the full appointment fee. The difference between the fee and rebate is your out-of-pocket cost.
Rebate amounts are set by Medicare and may change.
5. Referral requirements
A valid referral is generally required to access Medicare rebates.
A GP referral usually lasts 12 months.
Some referrals from specialists may have different validity periods.
If your referral is missing, expired, incorrect, or invalid, you may not be able to claim a rebate.
Please ensure your referral has been received before your appointment.
6. Bulk billing
Bulk billing is not standard.
It may be available in limited circumstances for eligible regional or remote patients where clinically and administratively appropriate.
SetMind cannot guarantee bulk billing.
7. Private health insurance
Private health insurance coverage varies.
Please contact your insurer directly to ask whether your appointment or service is covered.
SetMind cannot guarantee private health rebates.
8. Third-party payments
If your appointment is being paid by an employer, insurer, legal provider, NDIS-related provider, DVA-related provider, or another third party, this must be arranged and approved before the appointment.
You remain responsible for payment if the third party does not pay, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
SetMind may decline appointments where the primary purpose is forensic, medico-legal, insurance, NDIS, DVA-only, or employment reporting.
9. Cancellation and non-attendance policy
Late cancellations or non-attendance may attract a fee.
Cancellation and non-attendance fees are not usually eligible for Medicare rebates.
Late cancellations prevent another patient from accessing care.
10. Late arrival
If you arrive late, your appointment may still need to finish at the scheduled time.
If there is not enough time to complete the appointment safely or appropriately, the appointment may need to be rescheduled and a fee may apply.
11. Reports, letters, forms, and records
Reports, letters, forms, and other documents may attract additional fees.
Fees depend on the complexity, length, urgency, and purpose of the document.
Your psychiatrist may decline to complete documents that are outside the scope of the service or not clinically appropriate.
12. Prescriptions outside appointments
Prescription requests outside appointments may not always be possible.
A review appointment may be required before medication can be prescribed or repeated.
A script-only fee may apply where a prescription request is clinically appropriate and does not require a full review appointment.
Early repeats or replacement prescriptions may be refused.
13. Important medication note
Medication is not usually prescribed at the initial assessment.
Stimulant prescribing is not guaranteed and is subject to clinical suitability, medical screening, state regulations, prescription monitoring requirements, and psychiatrist discretion.
Patients with current or recent substance use concerns, or current medicinal cannabis use, may not be suitable for stimulant treatment through SetMind.
